When I was in my early teens, the church group voted for one. We boarded "The Admiral" at the St. Louis dock and were treated to a wonderful voyage on the Mississippi River. This was long before the Arch was erected, by the way, yet it certainly was a memorable event.
"The Admiral" was a paddlewheel, just like the oldtime riverboats you see in films such as "Showboat".
I tried to find some information about the boat but had no luck. I'm sure there are pictures and stories about it.
I hear they have an Admiral now that is a casino ship. That's really sad.

Many times, but never on a river. They have them on lakes all over the place in upstate NY. Some are real paddlewheels, others are fakes with a phoney paddlewheel and an engine.

not to new orleans, but a riverboat in general. They are really fun! You would like it. It's much better than any ferry ride I've ever taken.

I grew up next to the Mississippi, in Minnesota. We have Paddle Boats all up and down through Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and yes-- I've been on a few rides.

I have, on the Ohio River out of Louisville Kentucky. It was hot and humid, and I was amazed at all of the stuff that was in the river.
