I only had to read until answer #5 to get to a MAN's point of view - and at that only 2 answers (prior to mine) were from men.
Thanks ladies - for once again "telling" us all how we SHOULD think - you KNOW the male species sooooo well. That's why there are so few posts on here :) Ha !!!
OK - so on to the question......
He has not respect left for his wife or their relationship. He laughs (or thinks its funny) because he is either nervous about the subject, or he is extremely calloused and finds it amusing that she FINALLY found out about the affair.
Mostly, he is probably thinking its funny because he is finally going to get what he has been wanting, but was too chicken sh*t to accomplish himself !!!! That is getting OUT - his FREEDOM is finally on the horizon. He has a sense of relief that the shoe has finally dropped.
Sorry to hear of the trouble for your sister, too bad her hubby was too big of a wimp to man-up and just get out of the relationship, or even be a BIGGER man and WORK on the relationship instead of putting his efforts elsewhere.

Some men admit to cheating on their wife and usually the wife thinks it's a joke. But he came clean with it.
Some just can't keep it inside and just tell them they cheated knowing the wife will be there with them still.
But I dont know about thinking it's funny. He might not love her...
Not sure... Tell your sister to be strong.

Interesting how you introduced the question by saying it's for men only, and the vast majority of answers are from women. That sounds like failure to follow instructions, but . . .
Now, turning to your question, maybe he admitted to her that he was cheating, was because she asked him! [Why do so many people ask a question that they really don't want answered?!?]
As to the part about his thinking it's funny, well, I don't know. Doesn't sound funny to me. Next week may turn out to be one of the best weeks in your sister's life.
When it's time to move on, then just move on.

Too many women on here guessing and have no idea what they are talking about.
It sounds to me like he's just fed up with being married, and wants out no matter what the consequences are. It also sounds like he's been having a good time for a long time, and probably couldn't believe she never had a clue. The whole thing became a joke to him.
He sees it as she never had a clue because she never cared about him, he probably gave her numerous clues and hints throughout the years and she never picked up on any of them because she only thinks about herself.

Cause something has happened to change his view on their marriage. It could be something simple or something complex as he feels inadequate for her. Or he has lost his f*cking marbles and needs to be beat around the head and shoulders for a while. After 33 years I would think he really has some emotional problems and doesn't know how to deal with them. Sorry to hear.

Because he never respected her to begin with.
Methinks this divorce will most likely mirror their entire marriage.
Some women really do not think anything is wrong if their husband still comes home every night.
My thoughts are with your sister, tell her to hang TOUGH!

If he admitted to it without prompting, because he hates her, and does not care. Otherwise, like mentioned above, might just be a nervous reaction to lighten the mood if that's possible.

Because he has no respect for himself, your sister or marriage. Your sister is lucky and she still has a lot of good years left. Tell her to keep her chin held high because she is leaving a fool.

His marriage could very well had been a joke to him for a few years now.
I know you wrote men only, but I am intitled to my opinion too.

My only idea is that she probably has a good job, and is vested in a pension. Hubby will get part of it, and his screwing around will end up screwing her forever.
