Hello. I am planning to get two Green Spotted Puffers. There about two-three inches. I would want to know if a 10 gallon tank be okay for them? Would a 20 gallon long tank be better for them instead? How fast do GSP grow? Thanks.

A 10 gallon (and really even a 20 gallon) would only be okay for a short time. These puffers do best in a 30 gallon or larger tank, and the tank should be cycled first (takes 3-6 weeks, would be better to let it go even longer - more on this in a link I'll provide) because all puffers are sensitive to ammonia and nitrite in their water. They're also best kept alone, because they will become aggressive as they mature (they'll eventually be around 6-7 inches as adults). They also require salt in their water (sea salt, not table salt). They only need a little when they're young, but they should have almost full-strength saltwater by the time they're full sized.

I'll put a few links below about them - you can see what you'll need to provide for them, besides just the tank size - you'll also need to have foods for them so they can keep their beaks worn down.

NOTE: I think what the person above me is talking about are dwarf puffers - these are a freshwater species that doesn't need to have salt, and they stay much smaller.

five gallons is suitable for one million betta. Green noticed puffers require a MUCH larger tank (30 ish with vegetation) rationale they'll develop. Coincidently, I went to walmart in at present they usually had like eight noticed puffer fish in a single little freshwater tank they usually all had ICH! how unhappy :(

It's always best to get a biggest tank. I have seen spotted puffers in a local pet store arounf my town. They grow about 2-3 inches.

The puffers we've had were normally about thumb size at purchase. I usually put 4 in a 10gal. I've actually achieved breeding behavior with this size. I used brackish water. The size of an aquarium usually determines the size of it's inhabitants. Puffers are very finicky. I've found brine shrimp to be the best food for them but everyone has different results on this stuff. Get all the help you can.
