I had left my house without having watched TV that morning. As I pulled out in my car the radio was on and the announcer sounded very grave, I stopped the car to try to figure out what had happened, he talked a lot but still I couldn't figure out what had happened, I thought that maybe the president had been assassinated, then he said "the twin towers are no longer a part of the New York City skyline", I though oh my God, we've been attacked, it's war! I Listened some more and he described the two planes crashing into the buildings, and the collapse of both towers and I cried.

I was nine. I turned on the tv, and saw the place that I had visited last summer with a plane in it. I tuned in right as the first one fell.
I ran and got my parents. Yelling "Planes crashed into the pentagon and twin towers." At that time I was much more aware of the importance of the pentagon that the World Trade Center.
I thought they were accidents. I had no idea that it was terrorism, or what terrorism was until I started to catch on from what the adults around me were saying.

I was actually in bed watching TVas it was very late at night over in Aus... And I saw it live on TV just after the first plane hit the WTC.. They were saying it was a light plane and I was looking at the pics thinking that's no light plane... A lil while later the 2nd plane hit and I was terrified!! I woke my mum up and we sat and watched the whole thing unfold.. God bless those affected by 9/11

My boyfriend at the time was in Chicago at some financial analyst convention, and I couldn't get a hold of him. I was at work, we had no radio or TV there, so we didn't really know what was going on. Someone said that the terrorists were planning to attack financial institutions around the U.S., and of course my boyfriend is in finance... His mom ended up calling me at work-- she had him on the line also and he told me they'd evacuated the building he was in. It took him four days to get home at that point, because he couldn't fly and he all the rental cars were rented.
I went home and cried. I watched the news all night, fell asleep with the news still on, and woke up thinking it had to have been a bad dream. I still get choked up, six years later, just thinking about what happened that day.

I yelled four letter words at the television regarding the perpetrators and I was shocked and aghast at the TV pundits who were saying things like, "this is a declaration of war," before anyone even knew what kind group was responsible.

WOW what a fire! Go get them boys! Then came the calls to come back to work, called the now ex-wife and out the door... Then the sickest feeling, knowing that I just lost brother / sister firefighters.... Then report to work because I had to do the same job. "Our Duty to Protect"

I was in the fifth grade, so at first I didn't understand, but as the days passed I started to understand what happened. I watched the Oprah special today, it was very emotional.
