"Cheaters? Let's think about this.

First off, they have only been accused, so we don't even know if these allocations are true. We should get the facts first before we make judgment. If they are found guilty I still wouldn't go as far as to call them flat-out cheaters.

Whether you like them or not, the Patriots are a solid, all around good team. For you to say they only win because someone videotapes the defensive signs is a pretty weak claim. If you actually sit down and think about the situation you should come to the realization that it's highly improbable.

For this to actually work, the guy video taping the signals would have to be able to signal the coaches almost immediately so that the coaches can then inform the offense before the ball is snapped. The guy would also have to know what each signal means so that he is able to read them.

If a team was going to do this it would make much more sense for one of the coordinators up in the box to do it, instead of the guy with the camera. They could easily use their binoculars, read the hand signal, and then relay the info to the coaches on field.

I'm really not sure why the Pats would want to tape the hand signals anyway. I guess they could review them after the game, but a good team changes their signals weekly anyway.

Like I said before the Pats are a good team. You can't deny that. Whether this guy was filming hand signals or not , tell me this:

How did the signals help Randy Moss catch a 51 yard touchdown pass while being under triple coverage?

How did the signals help Ellis Hobbs run back a 108 yard kick off return?

How did the signals help the Patriots O-line make the Jets defense look like a bunch of sally's?

How did the signals help the Patriots defense destroy Chad Pennington and his whole front line?

In my opinion they didn't; or could not have.

The Patriots ran all over the Jets who pitifully seemed unprepared to even play a ball game.

It's sad to see everyone call shenanigans so quickly only because they are jealous of the Patriots success. I'm not a Pats fan but you shouldn't talk so negatively about them when in reality your team is probably doing something along the same lines as this. Every team wants to win. It's obvious.

...You know how the Pats did cheat though.....they got Randy Moss practically for free!!! They gave up their second 1st round pick to the 49ers in exchange for the 49ers 1st round pick next year and their 4th round pick this year.....which they used to get Moss!!!

WTF??? That should be illegal!"

While I wsih it were not so....Goodel has found the Patriots culpable of wrongdoing. Patriot fans.....stop bashing the rest of us.....Its your team that has betrayed you...not us.

It makes me wonder if that is how Belichek managed to change from the Village Idiot in Cleveland to the "Genius" in New England. It's easy to call plays when you know your opponents defensive assignments....and in a team sport...individual players talents would not be able to compensate.

Now...I'm not saying that is how you guys got your SuperBowl wins......but I think that Goodel needs to do a league wide investigation.....and if it could be proven that the Pats did cheat on their SuperBowl runs....I would be all for a NCAA type sanction......having the respective SB titles stripped from them......I despise cheaters.

That said...several other coaches and insiders have said that it is not unheard of, from the Patriots(remember GB last year....same assistant, same accusation), or from other teams.

Patriot fans......get over it, stop blaming the rest of us....Jealousy has nothing to do with it......If your teamhad to cheat, then it deserves the scorn that it will receive.

*Rob..how could it have helped Moss....if you know what the cover assignments are...you can plan a play.....like that deep route, that they are not ready for. Now it certainly would not be fool proof, but then again, the Pats don't have a perfect record either, do they? That said...I think that they are phenomonally talented....and even if they were checking plays....it probably would help more for the next game, rather than this one. I just can't believe they would be so brazenly stupid.

Couldn't someone just watch the Jets from the other side and decipher their signals? Why would they have someone with a video camera in plain view of everyone? It doesn't sound right. If they're found guilty then they're guilty. They will loose draft picks and who knows what else. It's still not the reason the Jets lost. They're horrible and pretty much didn't make any plays. That has nothing to do with a video tape. That has everything to do with a bad team. And why did their "fans" cheer when they're QB was injured?? Yeah, nice fans! Jerks!

I am disapointed over this Patriot video taping news... but I do think most of the negative responses are coming from fans of opponents of the Pats.. So.. about cheating in sports.. Juicing in baseball/football... doesn't seem to be too much contempt over that.. epecially in the media.. espn turns their collective heads when it comes to the juicing issue.. how many Giants games did I have to endure on ESPN to celabrate B. Bonds? or A. Rod or Sosa, McGuire?? knowing they were as dirty as dirty gets.. the bottom line.. it's all spin..anything to make a headline.. every team tries to steal signs.. video taping is just another way of doing it...camera phones are now coming out with video options.. then what will the NFL do? bottom line? lock your car if you don't want it stollen...

Well it's been proven that they did cheat if you read the Yahoo Sports News or watch ESPN...but ya know, I don't know how big of a deal it was...I mean New England's roster is so stacked anyway that I don't think it really makes a difference...OR what if the Pats were giving Mangini another cameo..he's been on camera a lot this off season...

I believe they did,i dont think it made any difference in the outcome of their game with the jets,i'm ashamed of the patriots, and even a little mad they are too good of a team from top to bottom to do this stuff, and to person who hates brady and belichick jelously is one of the seven deadly sins.

Watching the other guys give signals is cheating? Interesting that they're cracking down on this but not on steroids.

yes they cheated, they took video footage of the defensive coaches making their signals to the players. The league is going to fine them and probably take draft picks from them.
