General lie a lot and the Crocker guy came basically out, that 130,000 troops will stay in Iraq indefinitly. That will cost big time money, about 25% of our taxes for the next 50 so years. Can the US afford that, with a record trade deficit, a collapsing house market, a so so economy and private house hold debt, bigger then in 1929, short before the big Derpression.

Generals are paid to accomplish their mission. If a man shoots a gun, you don't blame the gun, you blame the man who shot the gun. General Patraeus gave data that he knew and his job was to report the status of Iraq, not to get his hands into the political goo our nation is involved in. Why don't we employ a general with defeat and retreat in his agenda. Maybe we may have more successful military campaigns that way.

Sure, the war in Iraq may be viewed as a costly thing, but it was executed and we are in the midst of it. If there were such a thing as a time machine, maybe we ought to talk a bout how we can go back in time and change things.

People who want all our troops to be pulled out immediately without concern for the Iraqi people are irresponsible in their thinking. The fact is, we're in a tight situation, and there's no easy solution. A tactical withdrawal of troops is good, but a complete and utterly irresponsible withdrawal of all troops immediately is harsh.

Why? We had no obligation to the Iraqi people until we told them to be on our side. Now that they are on our side, there are extremists and others that will slaughter Iraqis that have sided with us. I know of one such situation, with the "Hmong" or Mountainards during the Vietnam and the US's secret wars.

Complete withdrawal would be saying, "I know you decided to side with us, and we know that you will be slaughtered by the US's enemies if we leave, but f' you, bon voyage!"
