Below are your links and for what you are doing that processor is fine if it is a amd sockett am2 then the below motherboard is great for it and real easy to set up with vista.

the respond is relative on your desires or for why you desire the help. Technically Intel has the main more advantageous processor in accordance with benchmarking assessments. yet AMDs severe end CPUs could do greater suitable than you desire or desire them to do and you could save quite a few hundred money in all danger. So in case you desire the quickest, maximum pwerful of the two then the best end Intel, on the 2d is the suitable.yet a severe end AMD will maximum possibly fulfill your desires, and the final public of peoples desires. If processors have been unfastened grab some Intels, yet considering that they arent, evaluate your thoughts. Processor potential dollar fee is yet another subject count to look into. In a year or 2 this occasion could be reversed, so its no longer an eternal undertaking.

Way to many questions here, apart from the obvious AMD and Intel are different CPU manufacturers. Also means they use different motherboards, and what socket type the chip fits. Amd processors could be socket A/ 754/ 939 or AM2.
Intel could be scocket 478 or 775.
Your 6400+ is a great cpu, and will be socket AM2.
Asus are good Manufacturers, and will be producing Am2 boards.
Two things, Amd near halved the price of its old chips, intel core 2 duo are more expensive and perform better.
hope this helps.
