Yes, yes you are!!! Phil was f-ing great in Chi. Do you think because MJ was so great that Phil did nothing? Well who helped groom MJ, put together those wild team and made them work together to get how many ?? SIX championships!!! Yes, Phil is one of the all time greatest NBA coaches ever!
Plus, he managed to keep Kobe and Shaq together long enough for three MORE titles!! Gotta give the man his due.

The reason why the Lakers aren't winning is because of their GM. What did they do these seasons? Trade away Caron Butler and he goes off and becomes an all star.
They didn't draft good players, at 19 I thought they would go: Rudy Fernandez but instead they went Javaris Crittenton. I'm not saying he is a bad player but Rudy definitely will become a decent player soon. Very soon. Sun Yue? He is very unknown. I wonder why they didn't draft Marc with that pick but anyway they still got Marc.
The Lakers also have a terrible roster. I would try to trade Lamar for Ricky Davis and Theo Ratliff and then let those expire. That would give them 10+ mil in cap space. Then go splash the free agent market with a nice big man.

Your right. Phil is extrmely overrated. Most coaches that win championships only have one superstar. He on the other hand had 2 for all 9 championships. And he walked into the job. The only time he has been challenged as a coach is now and we see how he does and he still has arguably the best player in the game. You and I could team up as head coach and assistant and if we would of had MJ and Scottie or Kobe and Shaq we could win 9 championships too I hope.

Yes, he is overated.Bulls in the 90s, lakers in the early century (sounds very old huh), they can win a championship without a coach. u see what he did with the lakers over the last two years, nothing, barely got them to the playoffs. i mean u can braig about kobe, come on, hes the coach, he supose to make other players better, not ask to trade good players into their roster.like the raptors, they turn from garbage into a very good team in the east, what a job done by sam micthell. so, my point is, You are right for thinking Phil Jackson is overated as a coach!

He gets too many accolades as an amazing head coach with incredible coaching ability. He is above average in the way he handles his players but as far as coaching prowess...... If you have the greatest player of all time and two more players who are certainly at least top 20 then you don't really have to do too much as coach. Its simple for him. Give the ball to MJ. Give the ball to Shaq. Give the ball to Kobe. Average players, such as Luke Walton on the Lakers, don't flourish under his coaching, proving it is the talent he is surrounded by, not his own, which makes him great.

I don't think he's overrated as a coach at all. It's true he walked into 2 read made championship teams but to quote Red Auerbach, "If a guy has won that many games, he's got to be pretty good."
It's true that he has not made any average team into contenders, but name me a coach who has. By the way, GSW were never contenders.

specific sell Yeah, Phil coached assorted great gamers yet in simple terms considering the fact which you have like a pair of great gamers on your group, does it mean which you may properly be absolute to prevail? No. Jordan grow to be no longer an extremely solid group participant formerly Phil got here to the Bulls. Jordan had that tendency to play a million-on-5 plenty and the Bulls participant did no longer liked that. What Phil advised Michael grow to be that it takes teamwork to win championship, no longer a million great participant. Jordan grew to become a much greater powerful group participant after that because of the data that his teammates like Scottie Pippen have been slowly recovering and could at last be interior the hall of acceptance. comparable element whilst he grew to become coach of the Lakers. Kobe and Shaq in no way liked one yet another. yet Phil advised them that even nonetheless they're going to in no way like one yet another, they could nonetheless win video games in the event that they play as a set, which they did. It did no longer consistently worked whether it did assorted the time. The Lakers gained 3 championships interior the Shaq-Kobe era and 2 greater in 2009 and 2010 interior the Kobe-era.

Right on brother. He is great but has not shown he can take mediocre talent anywhere. Great coaches do that. That is an amazing accomplishment I respect most in coaches. Phil has not shown he can do that yet. And it is pathetic to compare him to the other greats.
