CONSERVATIVES fought against the idea of going to war in the 40's -- GEEZE -- they called it a foreign intervention - or a like term

Because they obviously do not understand logic. Because one set of circumstances shares SOME aspects with another set of circumstances, it certainly does not necesarily share ALL aspects with the second. The war on terror may be a war, but that's about where it ends it's similarity with WWII.

My Father and Mother were die hard Democrats as were their other family members. The only time I ever saw my Father cry was when F.D.R.died. But the Democrat party to-day is not the Democrat party that my parents knew, they would not recognize the party to-day.

Liberals in the UK fought and fought against going to war against Hitler. Do you really think Chamberlain was a conservative? I can guarantee you that Churchill was.
99.9999% of all pacifists and anti-war protestors are of the liberal/progressive persuasion. Always have been, always will be.

The conservatives are right. The Democrats of WWII are nothing like the liberals of today.
Before Pearl Harbor, FDR wanted to wage war against the Nazis. Democrats in his own party held him back.
Democrats were not "in charge" of anything. They were in control of Congress. Look what it took them to agree to fight back.
The same type of sneak attack occurred on 9/11. More lives were lost on 9/11 than were lost at Pearl Harbor. And still the Democrats are afraid to fight.

many of them really want a big dramatic war that they can say that they won... they romanticize about being called heroes... like children playing war in the back yard...
they want people to look at them the way we do now at those who served in WWII...
the main difference is... they weren't fighting WWII to be heroes... it just turned out that way...
they want OH SO BADLY... for this to be their WWII...
only problem... they aren't going after "Hitler" they're doing nation building in "N. Africa" and ignoring "Hitler"... if I may use my own analogy...

Complete and total with no knowledge of history at all. This has been a typical neo-con response to thoughtful quesitoning of Bush's ill conceived war and of course the GOP plan is to attack anyone who does not totally support Bush as he gropes around, for 5 long years, for an answer.

Well, they weren't far left. That's for damn sure. They weren't radical kooks pissing and moaning every 5 seconds. BTW,FDR locked up a lot of the subversives. FDR was old school. Tough and strong. Not like the weenie Dems today. My parents were old school dems. They sure wouldn't recognize the Dems today.

Youve got to remember, WWII was before the sixties. Democrats were not yet liberal extremists, feminazis, or insane.
I simply can't bring myself to compare Democrats in the 1940s to the morally-drained majority of the Dems today.
