First of all, the easiest way to do this is to set up an equation. First of all, define the variables.

x is Bruce's brother
x + 112 is Bruce

So x + (x + 112) = 354

Combine your like terms, and get them on their own sides. You will get:

2x = 242

Then, divide both sides by 2.

x = 121

Because x is Bruce's brother, he has $121. x + 112 is Bruce himself, so he has $233.

To sum up the answers:

Bruce: $233
Bruce's younger brother: $121

so..... $354-$112 = $242 then divide it by 2 = $121 in the younger brothers' account. So $121 + 112 = $233 in the other account

umm i did 354/2 so i have 177 i divided that so if they had an eqaul amout then that might shorten the problem down so if bruce has 112 more then i subtract 112 from 177 aka (his younger brothers account) then he has 65 and bruce has 229

so the answer is bruce has $229 and his bro has 65

to check do 65+112+177 and that should equal 354

Subtract 112 from 354.
You get 242.
Divide 242 by 2.
You get 121.
Bruce's younger brother has 121 dollars in his account while Bruce has 121 plus 112 which equals 233 dollars.
121 plus 233 equals 354 dollars.

if you take 354-112=you should get 242 now take 242 divided by 2 it should give you 121 so so far each brother has 121 in their account now take 112+121=233 so bruces should have 233$ and his younger brother should have 121

Let Bruce's saving account = B
Let Bruce's brother's saving account = B-112

B+B-112=354
2B-112=354
2B=354+112
2B=466
B=233

So Bruce has $233 and his brother has $121.

Let x = amount of younger brother

then x + 112 = amount for Bruce

Together they have

x + x + 12 = 354

2x + 12 = 354

2x = 342

x = 171 younger brother's

x + 12 = 183 Bruces'
.
