If everything clicks in Colorado with the skill around him, I can see Smyth scoring 50 goals.

Smyth is a powerplay specialist who toiled in Edmonton for the last 12 seasons and only twice in that time, has Edmonton's powerplay been ranked in the top half.

Colorado has a deadly power-play and Smyth will only make it better.

Last year, Joe Sakic became the second oldest player to score 100 points (Gordie was 41 when he did it his one and only time) and with Colorado's powerplay having Smyth added, I can see Joe scoring 100 again.

Colorado has an offense to behold with Hejduk, Wolski, Smyth, Sakic, and Stastny. Svatos and Brunette can fit on either of the top two lines giving opposing teams fits.

Liles and Clark have proven themselves as good men on the defence for the power-play as well.

I think fans in Colorado will realize that last year was an aberration and this year the team will be contending for top honours in the Northwest. If the goaltending was better, they could be contending for top honours in the West.

He was on pace for over 40 goals last year, and he was playing for the Oilers and Isles! This year he's on the Colorado Avalanche!!!!! THE Colorado Avalanche, the one and only Colorado Avalanche! If he stays healthy, he should break 40 goals and 40 assists. There's a high probability he could break 90 points.

~

BTW, the Avs had the #1 offense team in the entire Western conference last year. Our power play % was 4th in the league. 4th in the entire NHL!!! Hmm... Isn't Smyth pretty good on the power play?

My prediction? He'll play in about 70 games, get 85 pts and score about 40 goals.

He'll be right in that neighborhood for sure. Depends if he has any injuries and how the players around him play. I think expecting anymore is being a little too optimistic, but Smyth is a great player.

Had my decision made for 40 goals / 80 points before i read PuckDat's answer.

But yeah, PuckDat, i agree with you completely.

Hes on a MUCH better hockey team, so he will improve from last year (36 G) so thats 40+ ... and 80+ points, looks good to me.

...although im not happy about it xD

well he got 36 goals last season and was to points short of 70 and is now on a MUCH better team, so I'm gonna have to go with yes.

Count on it. In fact if he sees a lot of PP time on that team he could top 40 and 80.

will he still be Captain Canada playing in the US?

he signed a five year deal to play in a strange town in a strange country. He will not find his legs, this year. ask this question in his last year of this contract, and i would say yes, but not in his first.
