Currently looking for a new computer on ebay and at a local shop. I'm used to just looking at the Ghz speed, but now things seem to have changed at intel and they have a heap of different 'types' of pentium. My Q is, which one is better ?? I'm looking at 2 on ebay, 1 is a D 925 dual core and the other is a D 935. Or at a local shop there is an E 2140 and a E 6420. I'm LOST ! ! It used to be so easy. Do I just look at the Ghz speed ? Cause some of them are around the 1.8 ish speed and some are 3.00 Ghz ish speed. Just looking at it the D processors 'look' faster, but are they ? Can anybody shed any light on this for me ? I've not bought a computer for years and everything has changed ! What does D, E, Q all mean ??? What should I be looking for ? Any tips, advise ?? Many thanks guys, Steve.

OH **** NO!!! mmmmhmmm no nope no way. you can stop right there and go no further, Pentium D is WAYYYYYY outdated, and so is e and q, get a core 2 duo, or a quad core, they're new, you cant do **** on Pentium's. i should know i got a Pentium 4 which is worse then d lol. but i got another one and a laptop that got core 2 duo! so you should be looking for a core 2 duo... don't look on eBay you cant trust eBay! and at a local shop? like what type of shop, a small store or like bestbuy? the best one right now for desktops are the intel core 2 extreme. if you need help picking something out i can show you some stuff online. e-mail me if you wish!

Fastest performer on that list is the E6420 Core2 Duo. Core2 Duo is latest technology processor of Intel that does more instructions per clock cycle at low to moderate wattage. Q is for quad core. Forget the old tech Pentium Ds. They are now considered SLOW and just consumes too much power (HOT).
