Being a veteran, not of Iraq, I have to support the people who are there. I'm too confused about the info, how it was gathered, to know whether or not to support the war. Too many lies were told, too many deaths have happened now for an UNCONDITIONAL pullout. Iraq has been hurt too bad for us to just leave, taking our strength & allies with us. Since we have ALL hurt them so bad, we ALL need to help them rebuild. Good Luck & Blesings

Hmm....what if I asked you "whether you are for or against the war, should we stay there indefinitely?" should we stay there "until there is democracy in Iraq?" or for 5 more years..10 more....20, etc? Most people are going to answer your question "no, an unconditional pullout is not the answer

what is "unconditional pullout?" What "conditions" should be set before they should be removed in your opinion?

And I think if Darfur had the oil reserves that Iraq does, we'd already be there.

IMO, Should we begin bringing troops home? - yes. Should we bring them all home immediately? probably not.

and my favorite quote from these answers "and for WHATEVER reason, we got involved and destabilized Iraq." Lets not mince words here, we were sold WMDs as justification for war with Iraq. But the 'whatever" goes a long way in suggesting that many people think Bush et al had more than WMDs on their mind. lastly, we aren't exactly trusted any longer. That is the greatest travesty and exercise of malfeasance here, that immediately after 9-11, untold world citizens embraced the US and mourned with us, nearly everyone supported ops in afghanistan...and then they trotted out Hussein and wmd..and it was all wasted. what a shame.

Yes. The fact that the TOP American military commander in Iraq, General Petraus, claims he does not know if our actions in Iraq are making America safer makes me really question why we are STILL there after so much death and destruction. I mean, the General was supposed to go in front of Senate to "cheerlead" for President Bush's support for the war, and his honesty tells us that this war is a lost cause.

It is another Vietnam. Change needs to come from within Iraq to REALLY make a difference.

It's such a Catch-22.

If we pull out, American lives are saved, but what about Iraqi lives? The instability there will only rise until civil war envelopes the country (which it has already started to do), and then it's going to hell.

If we stay, nothing will get better. This is their civil war.

I do think that we should pull out, but we need to make sure that capable people are stationed in the government and that their troops are trained. But there are really no easy answers.

I think it's disgusting that the same people who are calling for an unconditional pullout in Iraq are calling for an immediate intervention in Darfur. So, in their "minds", we must step in to stop a genocidal civil war in Darfur, but we must pull out to allow a genocidal civil war in Iraq. Their illogical nature is shocking, but their political machinations are evil.

I think that most Americans agree that we shouldn't be over there. I for one don't think we should be there. I think pulling out from Iraq is the best thing that we could do.

This war is much like the Vietnam war if you ask me.

Unnecessary and not worth the American lives it is causing.

yes.
i dont see why they're over there.
it's just causing things to get totally out of hand.
i dont even know why they're there in the first place.
george bush probably thinks he's the president of the ******* world, but he's not. he's the president of AMERICA. he should be worrying about what happens to us. and if the soldiers are still in iraq, it's gonna cause more hate that we're invading them and then they're do something, and someone's probably gonna die. idk,, i think this whole thing that's been going on for years needs to end.

I honestly think it would do more harm than good.

For whatever reason the US got involved and destabilized Iraq.

We have a moral obligation to clean up the mess we made before departing.

If we allow Iraq to fall into chaos then who will ever trust us again?

while i would LIKE that to be the right thing, i think too much damage has been done, and if the troops just pulled up stakes and left, there would surely be an invasion and/or retaliatory strike on U.S. soil. imo, gwb is the biggest idiot to ever walk the planet!

I think there's nothing more that we can do over there. We could be there for the next 20 years, and even then nothing will change. THEY are the ones that need to get THEIR **** together to govern themselves.
