Which would be the positive directions and which would be the negative directions in terms of velocity?

There is no positive or negative velocity, unless it is GIVEN to you. In this case, you get to choose which way you positive velocity is. Basically, it's just a point of view.

So, let's say you're going North for 2 kilometers, and you want that to be your positive direction. Well, when you go South 2 kilometers, then that would your negative direction.

Now, when it comes to your velocity, it's basically the same thing. When you go North at 45 kilometers per hour, then that's your positive velocity. When you go South at 45 kilometers per hour, then that would be your negative velocity.

Those are the basics of the negative and positive direction and velocity. It just depends on your point of view, and what you actually choose it to be. Also, if you're doing physics problems, your teacher, or your problem might actually specifiy the positive direction for you.
