The answer is very simple. He is sweating profusely. The skin peels because of the moisture under the skin that is not escaping.
You are not going to stop the sweating. However, he can help himself(or you can help him} if, he (or you) takes a facecloth and cleans his feet really well. The skin will come really clean and the old skin will come off if he (you) scrubs. After every shower or bath, wipe the feet real dry. Apply medicated powder before putting on the socks.

Sounds like athletes foot or some other type of foot fungus. There are many over the counter sprays, ointments, etc. to treat this. It will take about 2 to 4 weeks of continuous treatment to get rid of it. In addition to using a medication, he needs to change socks at LEAST twice a day, make very sure his feet are dried well after getting a shower. It will also help to make sure his socks are being washed in hot water with bleach (if white socks). this will help to kill off any remaining fungi that MIGHT be still on his footwear. A foot powder like gold bond may also help.

Another option he might try is an old home remedy. If his feet are NOT raw or bleeding, he can soak them for about an hour or so in vinegar. The last time I did this, i had been fighting Athletes foot for a long time with little success and many relapses. Just use any regular white vinegar, poor it in a foot pan or other container that his feet will fit in. Wash the feet really well, especially between the toes, then just stick in the vinegar and let soak for about an hour. afterwards, wash again and dry well. You might need to repeat this again in about a week if no improvement was seen after the first time.

The vinegar (a weak acid) causes a slight change in the ph of the skin surface, where the fungus lives, and kills it.

Would NOT recommend this if his feet are cracked or bleeding. In this case, the vinegar would probably burn pretty good when he first put his feet in it.

Lastly, whatever he does to get rid of it, he needs to start using shower shoes when hes at the gym or is showering in the locker room, or whatever. Otherwise he will pick it up again and start all over again.

Good luck. In the mean time, just hold your nose and put any shoes or socks outside where the neighbors have to smell them and your house stays all fresh smelling - LOL

athlete's foot, no fun. Get him some Lamisil cream or some Tinactin spray, or both! (that's what I did)

It can become very itchy and crack and turn into open sores, the sooner he starts treating it the better 'cause it takes a long time to go away, I am still dealing with it and it has been months, granted I have not been treating it properly all that time.

Don't let him stop treating it if the symptoms go away, keep treating for at least two or three more weeks or it will come back. I advise him to get new shoes, well-ventilated and well-fitting. Change socks every day and if possible multiple times a day. Also, soaking your feet helps, and after they dry completely be sure to put the creams/spray on them.

Warm and moist is the ideal conditions for the fungus to grow and spread, try to go barefoot as often as possible.

He has some sort of foot fungus. He needs to change his sock 1 to 2 times a day. He also will need to apply an athlete's foot medicine that you can get at any pharmacy. Tinactin cream is what I've given past boyfriends. Also washing them 1 to 2 times a day will help too. In a week he should be on the road to recovery.

It's called dirty feet. My brother used to do the same thing and everytime he would come home and take his shoes off, the whole house smelled just like his dirty feet. Put the socks in a zip-lock bag and hand them to him and explain to him why they are in the bag, then discuss his hygiene with him.

He needs to wash his feet EVERY day with soap and water before putting ANY shoes on but especially tennis shoes which seem to smell more than other shoes. He also needs to take a brush to his feet every day to get rid of all that dead skin. My aunt had the same problem with the skin and her doctor told her the same thing I did, they don't get enough soap, water and scrubbing.

He also needs to make sure he uses deodorant on his feet AFTER he bathes them and if he can, he needs to switch shoes every day so each pair has a chance to air out before he puts them on again. They make deodorant just for the feet but he can use underarm deodorant which works just as well and isn't as expensive. Spray good around the toes because they hold perspiration and get sweatier than other areas.

The feet perspire alot since they are closed up in shoes and the plastics and leathers in tennis shoes have a tendency to create more odors than dress shoes which makes the feet smell even more, especially if people aren't washing their feet every time before they put them on.

I bet he is wearing cheap synthetic shoes. Leather or cloth shoes let perspiration evapoate and keep the skin healthy. I had to throw away one pair of fake leathershoes that looked great, but the peeling skin and the stench was too much. Quality shoes (not necessarily designer or expensive brands) are really important; spend enough to get shoes that let the feet breathe.

I believe he has athlete's foot. The smell is from the rotting skin. This can be cured by using over the counter spray. Have him ask his pharmacist which spray to buy. He should move on this quickly because it could develop into a serious foot condition.
