I am Christian and involved in church. I have had experience with religious hypocrites. I have also had experience with people who really believe in God but have trouble with their urges and desires leading them to sin.
I have less problems with people who worship God and then sin because of urges they can't control than with those people who are so perfect but make catty little comments to other church members and give church and religion a bad name.
I am not sticking up for this guy but I wonder if he is still grieving over his wife and so is acting badly. Either way, he is not treating your friend properly.

Most religious people are hypocrites. If you think about it they say they are saved, or devout or walking in the light or anything else they say but when it comes down to it no person is without sin. No person is perfect. One religion criticizes another religion and says that they are damned to hell because they don't worship the same way. Do they really think that is being God like or Christian like. Another religion says premartial sex, sex with minors and same sex sex is wrong yet leaders in their own religion are sexual abusing minors that are the same sex as them. Still others believe that if you repent your sin and ask for forgiveness God will then give it to you and you are saved, Does this give them the right to continue to sin and then just say oops let me repent or confess and ask for forgiveness each and every time. So as I said before all religions and religious people are hypocrites,

hehehe my husband's parents are Baptists...he's on staff at a huge church. lalalala it's ok if WE do it, but you can't, 'cause you're a sinner lalalala... oh my, what would the neighbors think?! lalalala
To actually answer the question, YES! And your friend's guy is not a Christian. If he's Baptist, he's probably still "saved" though - they have this clause that it's "once saved, always saved". The kicker is, was he actually saved to begin with.
A pointer for your friend, for the future: If someone tells you he's a Christian, or saved, or whatever, chances are good he is NOT, and is using it to get something he wants. People who ARE, don't have to tell you. The way they live their lives will show it.

I became an atheist again between ages 9 and 10 when I realized there were no god/s. I was catholic between ages 5 and 9. I even attended catholic parochial school with religion classes. Since then, I have been an atheist for over 3 decades.

All the time. Any religious fundamentalist who tries to force their beliefs upon other people is starting out a hypocrite from the beginning.

Everyday, that I get on Y/A. All the born-again fanatics somehow manage to find me. I get a lot of emails from those who want to save me from my wicked ways.
And frankly, I happen to like my wicked ways. I had of them tell me that I was going to He double hockey sticks in a hand basket. I emailed him back & said, " I'm so sorry but it appears that the basket is quite full of religious fanatics going there."

Oh yes.
I have a neighbor that has Jesus trinkets all over her car and bumper stickers "WWJD" and she has a bible in her pocketbook at all times and always quotes scriptures. That is fine, I can accept that. But she refuses to let her son even talk to my daughter because she claims that her family is "saved" and we are going to hell because I am Wiccan and my husband is Muslim. Her son has to sneak around to talk to my daughter..it is sad. We always welcome him in but I don't like feeling like I am encouraging him to disobey his mom.
I just don't feel like Jesus would have treated people this way.
