I don't think its so much a matter of them being playoff worthy as it is the division they are in is wide open.
The 49ers proved they could beat the teams in their own division and that might be enough to get them into the playoffs. However if that happens they don't go much further. I still think Seattle has enough to get them back but SF is in the rigth direction if they can work out the offense. Norv will be missed but the new guys there look like studs. Patrick Willis was getting up with the ball carrier on almost every play, that tells you something. Arizona was a sleeper pick for some too but their offensive struggles looked worse to me than SF.

There were a lot of sloppy games across the league in week one as is usually the case. The 49ers offense was horrendous for 57 minutes of that game until they decided to get their sh*t together. Their defense was surprising to say the least and I think Patrick Willis played phenomenally. But in answering this question I think it's essential that you look at their schedule.
vs. Arizona W, 20-17
@ St. Louis 10:00 am (FOX)
@ Pittsburgh 10:00 am (FOX)
vs. Seattle 1:05 pm (FOX)
vs. Baltimore 1:15 pm (CBS)
October 14 BYE
@ NY Giants 10:00 am (FOX)
vs. New Orleans 1:15 pm (FOX)
@ Atlanta 10:00 am (FOX)
@ Seattle 5:30 pm (ESPN)
vs. St. Louis 1:15 pm (FOX)
@ Arizona 1:05 pm (FOX)
@ Carolina 10:00 am (FOX)
vs. Minnesota 1:05 pm (FOX)
vs. Cincinnati 5:15 pm (NFLN)
vs. Tampa Bay 5:15 pm (NBC)
@ Cleveland
Last year the 49ers were 7-9, this year they are vastly improved. I figure that 9-7 is playoff worthy in the NFC and after looking at their rather soft schedule and division I think that's quite possible for them.

Their offense looked bad. But, when they needed to score, Alex Smith looked like Steve Young/Joe Montana to win the game. Plus their defense looked outstanding. They have a great secondary and a solid linebacker core. I believe they can make a run to win a playoff spot or win the West. Anything can happen in the NFL!

No, 1-0 is not enough to clinch a playoff spot. They should play the other 15 games first.

That isn't the strongest division in football. I think they can sneak in as a wild card. Personally, I couldn't care less. I am an NFC East guy.

They played the Lions, any teams offense can emerge against the Lions. The Cardinals will take the division, the niners will go 6-10.

Way too early to say. One win doesn't make a playoff contender.
