If you don't have kids, NO, you won't get everything back. You never get social security and medicare back. You should get some of your federal and state back but it depends on how much you had withheld.

If you have kids and are single, YES, you will get everthing back. You should get all of your federal (and possibly state) back plus the earned income credit which wipes out the social security and medicare and then some.

You do not get back any of the social security, FICA and medicare tax. You may or may not get back all of the income tax. If your deductions and exemptions come to at least $12000, then you will get back all the income tax. If the tax on the remaining amount is less than your credits, then you will get back all the income tax. Otherwise, the amount that you do not get back = (tax on ($12000 - your exemptions - your deductions) ) - (your credits)

I am answering this based off of having children, because if you have kids you get a nice, fat check from the government. A few years ago I worked and got over $3,300 back.
