Are all white people pasty white? I didn't think so. It's just a term to describe racial identity! Don't take it literally.

I am a light skinned black lady like beyonce or halle berry, yet both my parents and grandparents ARE black people. So i AM black. Who said black people have black skin?? Black people have complexions ranging from dark chocolate to hazel. There is no such thing as light skinned black people and dark skinned black people. Blacks are blacks. The same way there are tanned white people, pink skinned white people and very pale white people. So at the end of the day they ARE black people whether you like it or not.

Black does not relate to the actual colour of their skin but their racial afiliation, don't take things so literal. Are you White or should i just call you yellow? I'm not the colour of coal, i'm about Riahana's complexion but i'm still 100% BLACK!!!!!
edit: and kay kay, the only person in the list who is biracial is halle berry. everybody else is BLACK and beyonce would be the first person to tell you she is a BLACK woman

if thats the case, then NO american black person is black at all because we are ALL mixed! are you aware that not all africans were pitch dark when they came to america? are you aware that over 51% of all black people in america are of a lighter skin complexion today? beyonce, halle berry, and other mulattos back then were not accepted in the white community neither are they accepted today.
rihanna is not black at all!.... well maybe a little

Yes, and writing paper is white, people are not. In an ideal world there would be no labels. But I seriously doubt that that's ever going to happen. We as human beings cannot get away from pointing out each other's differences. We just love it. It's an obsession of ours. Maybe one day we'll figure out that people are just people and skin is just there to hold your insides in.

Its the same way with white people, some italians and countries in southern europe have dark skin like ray ramano for example, he doesn't have the typical white charateristics but is considered white.
white, black, indian and asian people are not defined only by their skin color but mostly by their characteristics.

well, if we call people brown there will be people out there complaining that there are some black people as well. black is used as a general term to describe the african race. that is all. just like white is to describe the WHITE race.

It's a casual slang thing.
White people aren't white either, not like paper or florescent light is white. They vary from the color of beach sand to pale orange to leather brown.
Even the darkest African is more of a coffee-ground dark brown.
Slang is widely understood, but rarely accurate. It depends on being universally accepted in a culture.
