I've got a old Gateway laptop running Windows 98 with a internal modem. I'd like to be able to have internet access at hotels or hot spots around town. What options do I have and what hardware/software would I need? I have a couple of usb ports, I'd prefer to use that if I could. Speed isn't a big issue, I'd mostly use it for email.

Obviously you can use some usb Wi/Fi Devices but you might have some trouble getting drivers for them. I would suggest a standard wireless card.

properly, what are you going to do with it? The m17x is going to get extraordinarily unfavourable battery life because of the fact this is designed for gaming and as a effect has effective, skill hungry components. it is likewise going to be huge and heavy. The Macbook professional is lighter and is going to get plenty greater powerful battery life, yet can't be as effective, and specific will do terrible for gaming. Plus that's a Mac, so do no longer assume too plenty video games to be compatible with it.
