He invented some pretty cool stuff, actually. I visited his home, Monticello, and he made his own modifications to it, like the first (semi) automatic doors and so forth. A lot of what he did involved architecture.

He was a writer, politician, President of the US. but didn't invent anything. He wrote the Declaration of Independence with a lot of input from others.
