Lethergy and weakness can certainly be caused by dehydration. A chemistry panel should be obtained to evaluate kidney function, BUN as well as electrolytes. Abnormalities in these values can lead to the weakness. Folic acid (Vitamin B9) is needed for forming body protein and hemoglobin. It is also needed to utilize B12. Folic acid and B12 work together to metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins and to form red blood cells. Older people are most at risk for developing B12 deficiencies. Also, surgical removal of part of the intestine can lead to B12 deficiency.
B12 deficiency is the cause of pernicious anemia, characterized by a gradual reduction in the number of red blood cells and by gastrointestinal and nervous disturbances. Eighty percent of pernicious anemia patients show neurological changes and 60% exhibit personality changes.
Physical symptoms of folic acid deficiency include fatigue and weakness, paleness, red, sore tongue, lesions in the corner of the mouth, burning feet, restless leg syndrome, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting and, rarely, diarrhea.
Physical symptoms of B12 deficiency include weakness in the arms and legs (sometimes being mistaken for multiple sclerosis) in addition to the signs of pernicious anemia.
Mental symptoms of B12 or folic acid deficiency includes confusion, fatigue, poor memory, difficulty concentrating or learning, and mental lethargy. It can be mistaken for Alzheimer’s in older patients. Additional mental disturbances include: loss of alertness, drive, self-confidence, and independence, social withdrawal, nervous irritability, headaches, insomnia, moodiness, severe agitation, lack of coordination, anxiety, delusions of persecution, and mania. Deficiency may also induce auditory hallucinations, psychosis, and paranoia.

You've asked two different things - one about your physical wellbeing and one about your psychological wellbeing.
I'd have to suggest that you go to your GP about your headache and mental lethargy so that any physical problems could be ruled out.
It could be that you are experiencing a form of depression but I wouldn't want to jump to that conclusion.
Feeling bad, downtrodden and inept everyday might be as a result of other things going on in your life, or as a result of many other things.
Do you think that there are things in your life that justify you having these feelings or does it seem as though you should be happy because your life is good, and yet you can't feel anything other than how you've described? There is a difference.
Best thing to do though is go and see the GP in the first place. You can just call and make an appointment. Good luck.

You may be physically health and fit, but it sounds as if you are getting depressed. Try to focus your mind when you feel like this, it will help turn you away from those negative thoughts and feelings. Use aromatherapy oils to relax and calm your mind. Try to read books from the library on self help for depression, try massage, reiki, etc etc. If you really cant seem to find one positive thing a day to smile about, then maybe you feel you should see your gp about counselling or cognitive behaviour therapy which will teach you the strategies for coping with these negative thoughts and feelings. Have a look at my answers page, i have just written a more in-depth piece for another person. You are the one that has to take back your control of your emotions. You will do it, you just have to try to focus away from negative times. Take up a hobby that you can really focus your mind on. Once you have seen that you can do something good, that will make you feel like (with hard work) doing something else positive.

no one should feel mentally lethargic all the time. Is this an exxageration? Try thinking outside the box. Go to a chiropractor, it wil help the headaches. Once your head quits hurting then maybe you mental energy will pick up. Some people are happy all the time... but usually the have been blissfully blessed!

I am sooooo "Normal" I think I may well be pretty boring, but I am one of the lucky ones I guess, there are some people I know that have sooo many problems, I swear they must have been anti-Christs in a previous life !
Yep, well adjusted, drink lots of water, (Brilliant for combating head aches, and good for the diet). I look after my health, have a wonderful family, a good circle of friends, lots of interests, the only moan I have is there is never enough hours in the day ! Lucky ain't we!!!!

If you are healthy, then maybe you need to go out into the world and try new things. You sound like you need to find something that inspires you, something that piques your interest.
Write a list of things you have thought you might like to do, and start doing them. You might want to go back to school and become a scientist...or something you haven't thought of before.
People aren't simply happy everyday...some seem to be because they love the life they are living.

feeling bad is totally normal after a break up. you question yourself over and over to see if you can find out whether it was the right decision or not. and think constantly about whether there was anything you could have done to prevent it. sound familiar? lonelyness too? Yep Try keep your self occupied doing constructive and possitive things. keep in company with good friends, remove all reminders of her from your space. should take between 3 weeks and three years to get over her. depends on how long you were going out and how madly inlove you were. one year relationship will take about two or three months

U need to break your routines, thats what happened to me, book a holiday or plan an outing so u have something to look forward to and try not to dwell on the fact that u feel like this because if u tell yrself that u will feel like it then u will! Failing that just shake yr body like a belly dancer - always makes me feel better :) x
