Use whatever context you like. I think this is one of the fundamental questions in politics.

I wish.

I know very good people who just get the shaft every day, and some shady folks who trip over luck, money, and privilege every day.
In a perfect world, good people would be rewarded, and the liars and cheats would get the shaft. But that's not how it is today.

I think for the most part, people do get what they deserve. I have seen very good people get shafted but its only because they didn't take precautions like in a business deal or investment. Or take a nice person who takes a walk at night on a rough side of town. Even a good person should exercise some good judgement now and again. Good people get taken advantage of all of the time and its only because they haven't realized that there are people out there in life who wait for some poor trusting soul to come along. I have also known some very nice people who were killed at the hands of some not so nice people and no, they did not deserve that at all so to go back to your original question, people often do not get what they deserve and some very undeserving people sometimes get what they do not deserve. So there we have it. Life is not fair and no one ever said it was.

I do not think that people get what they deserve, for example lets take a look at the Jena 6 boys who were just trying to protect themselves during a fight, but sure enough they have now become the accused instead of the victims. Another would be Micheal Vicks who is having his whole life destroyed because of a dog fight, do i believe what he did was right? No, but come on Martha Stewart was enslaving Human beings, but she back on board and its as it the whole case never happened. We have people who spend less than a day in jail for a crime that they should be sentenced for life but because they have money to buy the court, while other rot in jail for crimes they Did not even commit. So back to original answer No people Do Not get what they deserve, and it is not Right.

No, people do not get what they deserve. Ted Kennedy is still in office and Mary Joe is still dead.
