First, check what the fabric is by looking inside the cushion zipper. Most upholstery fabric cannot be laundered. Also, many fine furniture manufacturers warrant their fabrics and will send a rep out if there is staining or the fabric has become grimy. But, if you did not follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning it or spotting you may have voided the warranty.

If the couch is out of warranty, it is usually better to use a dry cleaning method. Why? Wetting most upholstery fabric can cause shrinking and mold or mildew to grow in the foam and batting underneath. Some cleaning companies load their steam/extractors with detergents that contain mold/mildew inhibitors others don't. With the dry granule method they do not damage the fiber nor get the sofa wet enough to make mold a concern.

If it is an older couch, you can set up fans to dry it quickly and just want to get by, use a steam cleaning company.

As a professional cleanser, I ordinarily wash those microfiber covers in a kitchen sink utilizing a transparent or white dish cleaning soap. I vacuum extract the water, after fully rinsing the material, after which wipe down with a dry terry fabric towel. I then reinstall the froth again into the duvet whilst the duvet remains to be damp. often this takes a 3rd hand to reposition the froth competently into the duvet. Unfortunately, the froth must get replaced at the moment as there isn't truly technique to blank this aspect of the sofa. My recommendation is to hold all pets/animals, someday, off of the furnishings and the bedding as any so known as "injuries" will also be luxurious and really complex to proper. Microfiber is polyester incidentally and is ordinarily observed on low-cost furnishings.

Hi, I wash the covers on our sofa all the time. But I tell you it's a pain in the behind to put the foam back in. Your better off getting it cleaned professionally. In between that, I wipe it down(give it a surface scrub) with a solution of ,Club Soda,a couple of drops of Dawn Dish-washing Liquid, and some Vinegar, and use an old washcloth. You really would be amazed at how much dirt comes off that way! Bye. Oh,if you do wash the covers, use only cold water, delicate cycle, and then hang to dry.If you put them in the dryer they are only guaranteed to shrink. Even on low setting! Bye again

guess it depends on how much you like this couch.

If you want to take the chance on getting it clean by yourself and saving a little money ... take a chance.

If you want to continue using it, clean and comfortable, and cant afford a new one right now .... then I suggest you have a professional do it right.

You will find in life that spending a couple dollars now will cost you less in the future.

i wouldn't hire a steam service, it would take days for the cushions to get dry. if there is a zipper on your cushions, then yes you can wash them. if not, just go get a little home steam cleaner, i have a bissel and it works great.

Have your upholstered pieces professionally done. If you take the covers off and try to put them in the wash, they would shrink and your sofa is ruined. It doesn't cost much to have it done.
