i did not know anyone personally who was in the World Trade Center, or the Pentagon, or in the plane that went down in Pennsylvania...but i cannot help but be affected by the horrific events of 9/11. Those people who were killed that day were Americans. Innocent people, who were just going about the business of their lives, and they were murdered by terrorists simply because they were American. It could have been me...or you...or any other American. and it might yet be any one of us killed in a future terrorist attack.

it so easily could have been me, or one of my loved ones...those attacks were so vicious and the only thing that motivated them was a hatred of America and Americans. any American who is not moved by the memory of those events is cold...and foolish.

i am no flag waving patriot...but i am glad i am American. and me, i do think America, as flawed as it might be, is the greatest country in the world.

sorry if it sounds like i am ranting...but i just watched The Falling Man on tv last night...that made me very sad...it made it all so fresh and real for me...how quickly we all try to distance ourselves from those events and that day...we should not.

i would explain that today 6 years ago will be in our kids history books so everyone was really affected by it not only for that reason but the war we are still in today is all because of 9/11. Gas prices, ETC.... i could go on forever. or just ignore him as he is not lookking at the whole picture and is an idiot!

Just say "Everyone was personally affected by it." I didn't know anyone who died on that day but I was and still am affected by it. I now have friends in the war because of it. The affects go much farther than just that particular day.

I respond By giving My Money to the Victims, and To this Day I haven't Forgotten What Happened.

Sounds like that person is young, immature or to put it nicely, not too bright. Decent people around the world do take it personally. This was mass murder & murder is wrong!

You can't explain something like this to someone like that. He's either very young or very self absorbed. Just smile at him like he's an idiot and walk away

I wouldn't. I'd just shake my head in disgust and walk away.
