Back when I was 21, I had mine done on a Friday afternoon. I drove myself. After the 15 min surgery, then sitting at the doctors' office for about 30 min, I went to Blockbuster video, and Walgreen's (for the prescription). I then drive home, and sat on the sofa for the rest of the evening. I pretty much did nothing on Saturday, but watch movies. Sunday I BBQ, but not much else. I was back to work on Monday (desk job). I was 100% by the end of the week.
After 6 months, I got the "all clear", but I continued to use condoms for almost a year.
I have no scar, and there are no side effects at all. That was 20 years ago next March. I am very proud of my vasectomy because I never had children. That is a choice I will never regret.
I think getting a tattoo, or a tooth pulled is much more traumatic than a vasectomy.

Wat the heck does the Answer Fairy know about a vasectomy. Thats like me telling a girl about giving birth. Give it a rest wind bag. To answer your question I had a vasectomy and yes he will be sore for a few days but he will be able to drive. It will take a day or two before he can be intimate. use the ice pack for the first 24 hrs or so and no longer. Make sure he has a jock strap it will feel like someone is pulling the testicles down. And remind him not to lift anything for at least 2 days and take it slow afterwards. I picked up a pitcher of tea on day two and dropped it to the floor pdq he will be okay most people don't have to much pain I think mine was worse than other guys I know but I left the icepack on too long. Good Luck

A lady doctor did the vasectomy .It was a teaching surgery under the eye of a older doctor.Thats how planned Parenthood did vasectomies so cheap.I had a lot of bleeding after but no pain.Made the floor a mess when I stood up.They had me pinch it for 10 minutes till it stopped.
I had a vasectomy and drove myself home .My wife was with me she was the designated driver.Planned parenthood didn't know she never learned to drive. My vasectomy never hurt even a little.I had a bilateral orchiectomy a few years later and that didn't hurt either.Guess I don't feel much pain down there.

Yes. Vasectomy is more mentally traumatizing than physically. Unless he is on drugs to drown out the memory of a scalpel near his jewels, then he should be okay to drive. It really is a teeny, tiny incision (no matter how big they think their balls are). It's a little laser here,a little laser there. Stitch, stitch and poof! You have a neutered human male. He's probably not going to be feeling very manly for a while and might start doing silly things to assert his manliness such as lifting things that are too heavy for him, trying to race a teenage boy, playing video games, developing a sudden interest is red sports cars... It all depends on your man.
Make sure he takes any medicine they prescribe (probably just antibiotics and mild pain killers). Keep the area clean as you would with any stitches. Also, make sure to let him know what a big strong man you think he is... even you have to tell him when he is lying on the floor because he thought he was the incredible hulk and could lift the couch with one hand.

Many men drive themselves home after a vasectomy. They only use local pain killers. That does not cause any problems for driving.
The surgery was nothing.

I had it done, drove home myself, I even stopped at a store to buy a bag of frozen peas for the drive home, 45 miles. The peas work really well for the pain and swelling. I did it on a Friday and returned to work on Monday had sex the following Friday with me on top.

my hubby had it done in the doctor's office with a local anesthetic, took about 15 minutes, most of that prep time and then suturing, all of one stitch. Hubby went right back to work afterwards, he is in the media and had no problems.

Make sure you get the all clear post check up before you go riding bareback. I have two female cousins whose husbands got clipped, neither waited for the all clear, guess what happened, both preggers again, at least they knew it was going to be the last time.

he's gonna be pretty sore. I drove home after my procedure, but it was only like 15 minutes, and the lydocaine hadn't worn off yet. I'd stay put at home for a day or two.
