I remember my own 9/11 experience and what the entire day was like. I spent the whole day, off and on, on the phone, trying to reach a family member who lived in NYC... and it wasn't until the following day when I was finally able to connect to them. But I remember my panic. This person had recently moved and gotten a new job, and I didn't have specifics on where either was, in relation to the WTC, so I was literally freaking out all day.

Which makes me think of all the families who tried to do exactly the same thing- just trying to connect to a family member in NYC- and who never ended up making the connection. Because the family member worked in the WTC, or was on a plane that was hijacked, or was a NYC firefighter who dies trying to save other people.

Yes it still makes me very sad to think of those families.

I will never forget trying to contact my buddy who was flying into Newark. All cells were overloaded and I didn't hear from him until after his diverted flight landed and he was driving back 6 hours later.

It was and is still a very sad day in NYC.
A sad day Worldwide for most still.

"Over it"???? Are you kidding? The most defining event of my lifetime?

I would think that one of the defining characteristics of being an "adult" is the ability to focus, prioritize, and tailor one's goals and actions to that which is truly meaningful.

To dismiss something of the magnitude of 9/11 as "over it", whichever side of the political spectrum you fall on, is indicative of serious lack of maturity.
