Ya I smoke and I have been trying to quit for a while now . I have tried the patches, gum, pretty much a lot of the stuff that could help you quit smoking but I just can't do it. It will probably take a lot to stop. If my husband trys to quit with me and I dont smell smoke all the time then I probably wouldnt have that problem

I stopped smoking 10 years ago, I was an heavy smoker (up to 40 aday), And I just used will power, though I did have pluracee at the time ( If its spelt right its fluid on the lungs, very painful when you breathe).
I decided to have 4 cigs a day so I bought a pk of 10, on the 3rd day I only had 2 cigs left. I wasn't going to buy any more, so I carried them 2 cigs around with me for 3 weeks saying to myself, '' If I want one I can have one,'' I smelled the box and that was enough.
I'm not saying its easy because it isn't. you've got to want to stop. I wish you the best and I hope you succeed, good luck...Toe.

I just quit on Sunday again! I tried every day for 2 weeks. I originally quite for a year, but then for some reason started again last month. On Saturday I smoked 4 packs of 100's! Its really hard and I feel like I would just love to have a smoke, but just need to fight through the cravings and mind games that I'm playing with myself. I feel your pain!!!

After all the attempts and faiures, plus a close NON smoker told me to keep on smoking. Since she had 5 freinds quit, and all 5 friends are dead, I decided not to.
Yeah I tried, the gum and the patch, able to smoke with both of them. I tried hypnoize didn't work, accupunture, didn't work.
I read books that said you can quit cigarettes, but smoking weed was ok. Ahhh weed have 4 times the chemicals of cigarette do.
I'll keep smoking thank you. My great great great grandfathers smoked and lived to tell the tale,so it's funny, there are millions of people whose great great great grandparents smoked and hey the blood line lives on.

yes and no. I'm tapering very, very slowly. Your body is used to replicating new lung cells at an incredible rate and stopping suddenly,it will probably go on doing that and overproduction of cells is cancer. I've known too many people who followed the conventional wisdom and went cold turkey, only to develop c. two years later. I'm cutting back very well and when I'm down to half a pack I'll go off altogether.

I smoked for about 10 years and then I moved to Hawaii and I felt bad for polluting such a beautiful place so I finally quit. That was 6 years ago. My husband still smokes and I try and try to get him to quit but he hasn't yet. Would you believe that he has asthma and yet still won't quit. I told him that I will not walk beside him when he has to use oxygen because he is doing it to himself. I love him dearly and I understand how hard it is to quit but I also know that he is strong enough to quit.

I think I've kicked it this time. I need to break the emotional addiction more than the physical.
