We have the same language, many of us have British ancestry, we share the same literature, our legal system is based on the British system, and much of our political philosophy is based on British institutions. What is there not to like?

In recent times, the British government has been the best friend the American government has had in the world.

British prime ministers make friends with American leaders whether the prime ministers are Conservative or Labour and the American leaders are Republican or Democrat. It is like Americans and British have the same soul or spirit.

I know many British hate Americans - and I know this as friends have travelled to the UK and been accosted in a pub for being American. Not cool. I also know many British don't hate us at all. It's refreshing that you are one of them!! I don't hate the British. Why would I? They didn't do anything to me! Or my country! I find British accents attractive - listening to Harry Potter as a grown man is interesting to say the least. Some of the best sex I ever had was with a Brit!

I love the British, especially your television shows. I watch "Keeping Up Appearances" (even named a puppy Onslow), "Coupling", "As Time Goes By", "The Office", "How Clean Is Your House" and so on. I first got hooked in the 90's on "Mr. Bean" and "Wallace & Grommit".

Every morning I have a cup of English Breakfast tea and every night wind down with Earl Grey.

I want to read the Harry Potter series in the orginal English versions, but don't know if I should get the children's or adult editions.

BTW, I'm of North American indigeous ancestry (Native American/Indian-Navajo Tribe, as American as you can get)

I love Britain. I studied there for a year in college and wish I could find a way of moving back there permanently. I love the culture and the history but I also absolutely adore the people. I get along with Britons much better than Americans. I find them more polite. I don't mean in a tea and crumpets sort of way but just...less nosy, less pushy, less judgemental, more I'll-do-my-thing-and-you-can-do-yours mentality.

I think they should take some of the creativity they use for creating those beautiful gardens and put it into their culinary skills because english food is awful! Except for fish 'n chips and malteasers.......

I travelled through england and scotland and enjoyed it very much. I love the accents and differences in the way we live. It's different enough to be be endearing but not so different that it's alien. The British seem very quirky.

Americans consider Britain (that's right, the Welsh and the Scots included) as our fore fathers.

We don't have many friends in this world right now. It's you, and that's about it. We love you, your accents, your culture, and your ways. Our Eastern states and towns are tributes to you. We may have gotten our independence from you, but we're still proud that you gave us the steps and lessons to become the country that we are.

Please be our friend. We don't have many in the world anymore. Most hate us.

I have no problem with the British. I happen to think they're less whiny than Americans.

Americans are more spoiled, more disrespectful, and inconsiderate.

Until I'm disproved, this is what I feel.

EDIT: uh-oh, I gave a somewhat pessimistic answer, going against my own advice.

No, simply because my family came to America because of British persecution with killing millions of my ancestors with 800 years of rape, but our relations have improved:)

they're ok. I take people on a person by person basis. I feel that (some? most?) British consider Americans stupid and low class, though...
