The above answers have covered the basics.

1. Watch for signs of changes in his level of consiousness

2. Watch for an increase in his lack of balance (this is difficult in toddlers)

3. Check the pupils if possible and make sure they are the same size on both sides. They should also get smaller when the amount of light is increased.

4. If he shows any symptoms outside of a mild headache and local tenderness at the bump, take him to the A&E.

Otherwise put a wrapped ice pack on the bump, some childrens paracetamol (by weight) and kiss him a few times also

Enjoy your child, he will have a lot of bumps and scrapes over the years.

if your son is sick then get to hospital, other signs are dizzy or confusion. if it was a bang on the fore head he should be OK as that is the strongest part of the skull as the bone is the thickest there, but you will find if it was a bang on the fore head and has a big bump there, he will have a black eye in a few days as the blood that is behind the bump will settle around the eye. Just keep checking on him for the next 48 hr

As long as his pupils aren't dialated (the black spot in his eyes staying really big even in the light). Next time - if a kid bumps his head, and you think something is wrong - no NAPS! If his pupils are staying dialated - or he throws up, or gets worse - run him to the ER!
Put some ice on the bump - that should have been done first thing.
Hope he's okay!

If he is not being sick or having trouble waking up, then he should be fine. If anything else develops, take him to a doctor or A and E as soon as you can.

My daughter hit her head and was sick every ten minutes for 3 hours. The hospital kept her in overnight but she was fine.

It sounds as though he is OK but any bang on the head could have complications so definitely take him to a doctor as soon as possible. If an A&E in available at your hospital then take the time and trouble to take him there.

keep an eye on him, if he seems unnaturally sleepy or is sick or complains of any thing other than pain where the lump is then take him to doctor or A&E. normally u should keep an eye out for 24 hours.

As long a there is a bump sticking out and he acting normal he should be ok. You could give him Tylenol for the pain.
