He retired after Oprah debuted and knocked him out of first place. But Donahue's talk show was certainly cutting edge for its time. I have caught him on O'reilley Factor on Fox a few times, arguing with the host. I'm not a fan of Bill's. Just watched it to see Donahue put him in his place !

What a whining sniveling toad. I saw him on Hannity & Colmbs the other night and they showed a 20 year old clip of Sean Hannity on the old Phil Donahue show and Phil almost had a heart attack when his audiance gave Sean a large round of applause when Sean had the audacity to suggest that individuales should take more responsibility for the consequenses of the personal decisions that they make for themselves. Phil was appalled that someone could be so heartless as to deny someone of their victom of society status. He was crying about our soldiers and the prisoners that our troops abuse. Same old story and same old liberal. I guess Phil has never been mugged. He stays pretty safe in his limo.

I really liked Phil Donahue . ALOT better than Jerry Springer and Maury Povich combined . Maury used to be good until he became another Jerry

I miss Phil D. on TV..... loved his show when it was on.....definitely cutting edge but I think he passed the torch on to Oprah! Both had high class shows that had some integrity, intelligence but were entertaining at the same time.....
