I'll be auditioning for Aunt Eller for the school musical. I already have an accent down, but I was wondering what sort of clothes I should wear. I plan on buying some sort of thing from a thrift store, but I am in such an inspiration rut; I haven't any ideas.

Also, if I sprayed my hair with a colored spray for hair (grey), would I be able to wash it out in one night?

Thanks for any other suggestions you might have, too. :)

First of all, don't go overboard with the grey hair...that is overkill!!

I would suggest that you not audition in costume, but rather, you look in your closet and see what you already have that might fit her character.....do you have any broomstick skirts or long tiered skirts? How about a button-down blouse with a pair of jeans......

It is your acting ability that is paramount, NOT your costume....this is especially true for Aunt Eller, because she is not paired with anyone.

Wear your hair pulled back in an easy bun, but don't spray it grey....no high school director would expect that, and you're likely to be laughed out of an audition if you did that anywhere else.

You definitely have to be loud and out there. Just think of Aunt Eller as that crazy relative that tells it like it is but, everybody still loves to be around.

Your previous advice about costume is great.
Now when you audition, make sure you are big and brassy, she is a lusty earth mother and does nothing subtlely.
