No but most probably the second after the Vatican city.It is certainly the richest per head of population and raises so much revenue that a large part of the excess is given to Greater London as a gift.It also has its own police commissioner and police force who wear gold buttons and red chequered bands instead of the usual black and white. It also has its own Lord Mayor.

London is in England ,England is in Britain and Britain is in Europe ,do some people think Britain is a continent on its own? Also Moscow is in Europe
Europe stretches from the Ural mountains in Russia(east) and the Atlantic ocean (west) ,Iceland being the most westerly Part of Europe. An from the Mediterranean sea in the south to the northern tip of Norway.
The smallest city in Europe is Vatican city ,which is situated with in Rome ,the city of London is in name only a city, its only a fancy name of a borough of greater London ,which is the real city

I believe that it is the smallest city in the world (or was in 1980 when I was at school!) The actual "City of London" is only one square mile which is very slightly smaller that the Vatican City.

Of course what most people conceive to be London encompasses more than one actual city - the next smallest is Westminster which is around 1.3 square miles (if my memory serves me correctly!).

The City of London also has a separate police force to the rest of London which is not part of the "Met". Nowadays the two police forces work together and the Met are welcome in the Square Mile but in my Grandad's day they would meet at the City's boundaries on the beat, turn their backs on each other and walk away with never saying a word!

COME ON!!!! NO London IS NOT the smallest city in Europe (or the World) - and YES it is in Europe, (the reason why some of you might be confused could be because England is not in mainland Europe but is an island just north west of France - which by the way (for those who should doubt) is also part of Europe.) It is not even the smallest capitol! The world's smallest capitol is Nuuk in Greenland although tecnically Greenland is still under Danish rule - in that case the runner up is Iceland with Reykjavik, and as far as I know the second smallest is Valetta, Malta with measurements of 1 mile x 0.3 miles... - London is in both size and people considered one of the great cities of Europe.. And I think you might all be confusing the ancient Roman Capitol of London which was app. one square mile - the size of Hyde Park!

Correct. I noticed this one may first visit over 50 years ago.
At that time you would see in Greater London the road signs marked City of Westminster (that was the only one I can actually remember) or City of Lambeth. The City itself is as you say and is the financial hub. The Parliament and many Ministries are in the City of Westminster. I may be out of date and the local Authorities changed somewhat hence Livingston Mayor I think of Greater London

The City of London measures 1 square mile
It should not be confused with the city of Westminster nor the Greater London conurbation.

I rather propose you examine it out. I additionally went to Heidelberg to be certain the citadel there and it replaced into alluring. have exciting!
