I have win2k server and this problem can occur if multiple clients are attempting to access the same file via hard drives with incompatible read ahead cache systems.. It's a relatively rare occurrence and lucky for me has healed itself. If you are not in a network environment, you'll have to be more specific.

Remove and download another copy from Microsoft.
