Fair Oaks Ranch is in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas. They have their own zip code and their own post office. They pay their own taxes and have their own elected officials and police department. They claim to be a separate entity from Boerne with only the school district as their commonality. Even their elementary school is known as Fair Oaks Elementary.

To make your own decision, here's a website.

As for US_DR_JD, he is much too opinionated on this one. In researching you will find that Fair Oaks Ranch became a separate city in 1988 whereas Alamo Heights and other areas inside the San Antonio city limits became annexed into San Antonio while retaining thier little communities. These are polar opposite type of government processes here. The Fair Oaks population is growing outside of Boerne whereas Alamo Heights and Castle Hills and the others he mentions are inside SA. They stay the same with no where to grow or build new homes. Boerne just may, like New Braunfels 150 years ago, shrink and give way to Fair Oaks, but right now, no...it's a separate city. I am a graduate of NB. I taught at Boerne HS for awhile. Did you know that at one time New Braunfels was larger than San Antonio during the railroad era when there was a stop between Houston and San Antonio and NB was it, but it didn't grow as fast as San Antonio, the people didn't want to. So, you have to look at the overall picture. Whether or not you want to believe it, Government wins.

Regardless, it is a beautiful area and growing very much. At one time there were acreage with each homesite, now it's becoming more of a neighborhood with smaller average plots and more reasonable prices in the beautiful hill country.

The only true town or city in the district is Boerne. However, there are several residential areas around the city of Boerne which are included, like Fair Oaks Ranch. To see the areas included, go to this site:

www.boerne-isd.net

They have attendance zones for the schools and the boundary guidelines for each school.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Again, sorry Lalana, but I don't consider Castle Hills and Windcrest separate cities nor Alamo Heights, but they all have their own police and fire departments and separate tax structures. They are separate towns, but who really considers those separate from San Antonio, they also have their own Zipcodes but for each you can put either San Antonio, or the City Name and with ther zip they will deliver the mail.
