I know your looking for an answer, But I'm in a similar situtation. I think 600.00 is correct for taking care of everything, casue i believe they told me the same price. But as for it taking 3-6 months, I'm not sure. I thought it was 30 days. When you get a concret answer pls let me know. I'm in a similar boat, I jus got a few more paddles. lol. Good Luck and God Bless.

You as well need help in writing English...but that is another issue, and it would as well prevent you from filling out forms yourself and having them be okayed by a judge, (If they are incorrectly done, your divorce papers are rejected.....) soooooooo
Check in the Yellow Pages under Attorney, Divorce, Mediating. If you buy the paperwork on line, or in an office supply place, you will know what it looks like for your state. You and your soon to be ex, need to look at them and agree what ought to go where, but since it is unlikely you have an estate, everything will just be filled in with the null sign. Most attorneys who do this charge from $75-300, so you are getting charged way more than usual. Call around in your area. Divorces are generally granted 6 months after the papers were accepted by the court. You will, after you have filed them (or after your attorney files them), get a copy in the mail with a final date, and a judge's signature. On that final date listed on your papers, your are then regarded as a single person again and not before that date.

the paperwork is free...the filing costs about $300 like you said. The extra $300 is for her time, filling out your stuff, filing it, etc..so its sounds about right. If you felt comfortable doing the paperwork yourself and its not contested by your ex, you could avoid paying that extra $300. From the date of filing you can get divorced no sooner than 6 months later, thats right. Meeting 4 times to sign papers is a toss up...if you two are in agreement about stuff you can sign papers with each other and not have someone playing middle. A notary will come out to notarize documents for $15 in CA...why pay more when you dont have to?

Where do you live?
Most states offer the paper work on line...FREE! Get it and fill it out. Go to the courthouse and file it. There is a filing fee that can range from $200 to $400 depending on where you live. Have your wife served. You can have a friend do this for you. Have your friend sign the proof of service and file it with the court. After 30 days, you can request a default if your wife has not responded. Then it's just the waiting period after that until you receive a judgment from the court.

Sounds like a load of sh!t to me.
I got an uncontested divorce in GA for $495.00 for the lawyer. Notary would have been another 25.00 but we knew someone who did it for free. My lawyer took my info, served my husband, he said to meet him and the notary...we signed. I took the papers and dropped them off at my lawyer's office. And 3 months later I received my decree. There is only one judge in our county that will make the plaintiff come to court and I didn't get him. Every state is different, but I'd get a lawyer not a notary
My total cost was $495.
$920 sounds like a lot if the two of you have already settled and divided you assets.

You need to call the court in your town because it should only be a filing fee (ours is about $350) and you pay for the copies of the packet. You must know someone that can help you fill the thing out???? Ask around before you pay that lady all that money. If you had property and kids it would be different.

This actually sounds pretty sound- this is about what it costs and how long it takes. You can always shop around to see if you can get a better deal-
The time is usually 6 months- if they move fast enough it can be sooner, but count on more like 6.
Best of luck- very short marriage, was not meant to be.

You don't even need the notary. Simply go to the courthouse and get the appropriate paperwork and you can do it yourself for less than 300 bucks.

If there are no minor children.
If you can agree to a "property settlement agreement" everthing else will fall in place and limited need for an attorney.
If you cannot agree to the "property settlement agreement" court (judge) will dispose of the property between you.

it's not that simple. what state do you live in? do you have kids? do you own a home together? If she contests it, it can be lengthy and expensive. if she doesn't it can be less expensive but I never heard it to be $600. My took divorce took 6 months but it cost me $7,000......
