I've been considering getting into drop-shipping, where you buy from the wholesaler on a sale-by-sale basis rather than ordering stock in bulk.

The thing is, what would happen for instance in the following scenario:

- Customer places order with me
- I place order with wholesaler and product is dispatched
- Customer cancels order / does a charge back on his credit card

In such a scenario would I lose out? Is there anything I can do to avoid this risk?

Thanks.

Yes .. make sure that you actually have the payment before asking the drop-shipping company to deliver....

To avoid charge-backs, either don't accept Credit Cards at all, or go via a 3rd party service (such as PayPal) and withdraw the funds as soon as they arrive in your account.

To avoid cancellations, sell via an Auction site (all bids and auction winners are binding in law .. the winners are NOT 'placing an order' ..)
