Yahoo answers isn't made with just HTML. HyperText Markup Language is used for displaying text, tables, pictures, and etc... HTML doesn't compute, store/read from databases, and etc... With HTML, you can only make static sites that only display information and that's pretty much it. A site like yahoo answers is most likely made with serveral componets (database such as Oracle or MS SQL server, a couple of languages such as VB.NET, C#.NET, Java, together with HTML and CSS, and of course a couple of servers to host it).

Since you're not really an expert (and no one really starts out to be one) I'd suggest to use code generator softwares to put together you first site. Use softwares such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or even MS's own Frontpage. It really isn't all that hard since most of the code is pretty much the same and it won't blow up if you made a few errors here and there.

I can go on all day with the explaination, but like riding a bike, you can read all you want about how to ride one, but you really won't know how to ride until you've ridden.

Here is a good site to get started:

The "code" is much more than HTML. Yahoo uses a combination of Server-Side technology (like ASP or PHP) and Javascript. Now, they're probably using Asynchronous Java And XML (AJAX) to deliver what they're doing.

You can't use HTML alone to build a Yahoo! Answers.

I concur with Sleeping Dragon's answer above mine. Although since you can no longer get MS FrontPage, I'd suggest its successor, Microsoft Expression Web.
