It's not the implant that causes suicide. Just people who get implants are more likely to commit suicide.
They're saying people who get implants are less confident about themselves and have lower self esteem. those factors also contribute to suicide.
Implants don't cause suicide, low self esteem and self confidence does.

Breast augmentation is associated with a higher risk of suicide. The reason is because most of the people who get the surgery done have issues with their self image and they go to drastic measures in order to get more attention. Eventually, they may begin to feel like they're still not getting enough attention or they may have other psych issues like depression which is why they got the surgery done in the first place. Depression can lead to suicide and there you have it.
I do need to clarify a bit though. Association does not always equal causation. For example, car insurance for red cars is higher than any other color. This is because red cars are ASSOCIATED with speeding tickets and car wrecks. If I put you in a red car, it would not CAUSE you to speed. In other words there is an increased risk for getting a speeding ticket if you drive a red car.
I hope this helps.

The article doesn't take this into consideration, but in my "simple" mind, a person who chooses "cosmetic" surgeries of almost any kind would be more likely to commit suicide due to the constant stress and worries of other peoples opinions. I wish they had published accompanying statistics for tummy tucks and liposuctions.

You obviously didn't understand the blog (not even a medical journal article). It said that these women PROBABLY had pre-existent psychological problems; the breast implants had nothing to do with it. There was just a marked connection between the two incidences.
People who get implants are proportionally more likely to be dissatisfied with themselves and therefore are FAR more likely to be depressed. Changing the outside is NOT going to fix the inside.

no. suicidal thinking comes from different sources of chemical imbalances of the brain. breast augmentation has NOTHING to do with it. other things like depression and mental disorders and illnesses may have a role, but unless you're depressed and you decide to get a boob job, and then become more impressed because you look horrible with huge breastes, then no. so sillicone away darling<3
