The width of the Earths orbit serves as a
base-line. Two observations, 6 mo. interval.
The difference in the angle to the star can
determine its distance (if it's not too far away).

The difference is very small, (seconds of arc),
thus the term 'parsec.s` (parallax-seconds),
as a measure of distance.
