There has to be a difference. Nothing can compare with talking to someone face to face. I am quite an expert interpreting body language. Something you cannot do with a computer screen. However, I do believe you can make some real good friends online. I have proof of that with the friends I have made.

There is a massive difference because you can't see their physical movements and gestures, which play a massive role in communication. Watch things like Big Brother: On The Couch. You'll see all the little gestures that can show if someone's lying or being genuine or whatever...
Although you can see people on webcams, they will not be doing their gestures so much because their hads are busy on the keyboard...

I don't like taking to someone online...
I like to see the persons face when I'm talking to them...
I have friends that like to talk to people online not in person...
I don't think there is a difference; It's just what a person like...

yeah, well there is. messaging online takes out the element of human contact, whereas talking in person doesn't. there is a huge difference. many people as a result, who spend mucho time on the puter, may eventually start avoiding face to face contact. less severely they may just prefer messaging.
but there is an undeniable social difference.

There is a big difference, There is no interaction as such, You cannot see responses, body language etc. There is also the issue around isolation .....to many people have lost the art of conversation and people skills as they are to wrapped up with the pc and having that barrier or protection.

Yes. There is a difference. For me it is alot easier to say things through the internet but the downside is you can't see the persons eyes and body gestures to tell how they are really feeling and what they are thinking.

Of course... a BIG Difference! In person you can see expression online although you can type expression (lol etc.) that does not make it the truth.

Yes when they are typing to you they are usually older, and bolder fat and ugly and bad tempered.
And taken all their frustrations out on you
before they go to bed waring their long drawers. Feeding the 6 cats and hugging their hot water bottle because their husband's has scarpered long ago with a gorgeous wee blond. HA HA HA.

Anybody could say something in the comfort of their own home.
They are alot different.
Fighting over the net is like running the SPED olympics.
Even if you win, you are still retarded.
