is radiography/xray a good career with good income opportunities? I'm considering going to school for this but would like to know more. Also, what types of shifts do xray techs/radiographers typically work? Thanks

Yes, it is a good career with good income. However, salary varies a lot depending on the area of the country. Check this link for more info: http://www.asrt.org/content/rts/surveyresults/wageandsalarysurvey/wagesalsurvey2007.aspx

There is no typical shift since x-rays are needed 24/7/365.

You can find more info here: http://www.asrt.org/content/recruitmentretention/career_brochure.aspx

TO SUNFLOWER16 BELOW: A radiologist is a doctor. That is not what the asker is talking about.

I think you are talking about a radiologist, and yes it is a great career choice. Versatile & very rewarding. Here's some info I found about it:

For working conditions, training & requirements, job outlook, salary info, etc look at this site:
http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos105.htm

To find a school offering this program, look on this site:

Good luck!

**EDIT: yes, i meant radiology tech, all the info i posted is about rad. techs, i just typed the wrong thing at the beginning. But all the info is correct.
