this sounds really stupid because i know labor hurts, but i'm really scared of the doctors doing things to me that they have to and it hurting. (ie: stripping cervix/membranes, an internal monitor, etc). i'm not really scared of labor pains/contractions... i'm scared of having to endure pain from what doctors will do.

what can i do to relax? i keep thinking about having to get induced and worrying about how i've read that is more painful than natural labor and maybe i could elect to have a c-sec instead of being induced... but i might not have my facts straight about which is "better". is a c-sec less stressful for the baby? it is done fairly quickly vs. induced labor can be hours and hours long.

All of your fears are normal. I was induced and it was an easier delivery than my first that was natural.

You will be amazed at your own strength during delivery, something just takes over and you get it done. My first I had no intention of having natural but the nurse did not listen to me when I said I was hurting and by the time she would check me I was too far along. I wanted to scream and yell but I did not, I focused and breathed like I learned and got through it without hurting anyone LOL My daughter was born on Elvis' birthday and I swear if one more person had told me that I would have kicked them LOL
I did not dilate from 9.5 to 10 and the doctor had to help her out and it really hurt, but I made it and you can too.

You have more strength than you know simply because you are a woman. Stay focused and you will be fine. I did not use an actual focal point I just focused on getting the baby out. The yelling and screaming makes it worse, the breathing helps relax the muscles.

And if you get an epidural you will not feel what the doctors are doing to you. They are heavenly by the way, I tell everyone they should get one. Having done it both ways I say epidural all the way.

They put an internal monitor on my oldest and it did not hurt at all.

Just wanted to add I was induced with my second due to the size of the baby, I did not ask to be induced.

Just trust your body. You have carried this baby for 9 months and grew a baby from 2 cells. You can go this final leg.

And the doctor's DON'T "have to" do stuff to you. You don't have to consent to stripping membranes, internal monitors, internal exams. This is your body and your labor. You hired them.

Why would you be induced? It is more painful and more likely to end in a c-section. A c-section is NOT the easy way out. It's a valuable surgery for the few women and babies who actually need it. And while you don't have pain from the birth itself, you will have pain in the days and weeks and maybe months that follow. A c-section is not less stressful for the baby. A doctor who says that does not understand the rhythm of a natural labor and delivery.

ok that grew to become right into a great worry of mine whilst i grew to become into those days pregnant, I watched somewhat some discovery wellbeing and TLC a newborn tale and brining homestead toddler...my husband might laugh at me. I dont advise a being pregnant type for the reality they assist you stay on the undesirable issues, I dropped out of my type and that i'm happy I did reason incredibly once you're in exertions you ignore that stuff, the only element I centred on grew to become into some thing a reliable chum advised me: relax with contractions no rely how reliable they're and breathe slowly and deep. So remember that it helped me. You ignore related to the undesirable stuff which could happen, you grow to fret to have the toddler and meet him/her for the 1st time. Dont hassle or you will lose perception on how impressive the being pregnant and delivery are. After my son got here out of me i wanted to do it lower back....I did have an epidural, i wanted water delivery yet my general practitioner had matters with it and you cant have any discomfort meds...undergo in suggestions the epidural is going into your nerves and to not the toddler, the only reason it could decelerate pushing is considering you cant experience.

Too late to turn back now ,
What will be , will be soooo . . .

Start focusing on what you will be doing with the baby afterward ,
Think about introducing the child to music and art and mother nature .
Start thinking about life after childbirth , that will be many years longer than the day you are in labor .

The medical staff will take care of those other issues ,
They are professionals .
You put your mind on your family's future .

i think a c section could be bad for the baby, unless you have to have one for some reason. because it's unnatural and it's a shock for the baby when your just cut open and it's pulled out... the idea of a doctor cutting my stomach and uterus open is more scary... but yeah if you anticipate that labor is gonna hurt then it might not be as bad as you think... personally i try not to think about it(im 27 weeks), but i can see how it would be worrying you now since it is coming so soon...good luck!!!
