Michael Moore said that we're the only country that denies people healthcare all in the name of money. I won't debate whether it's true or not but it got me thinking.
I have family in China and quite a few times I think they have been overtreated. for example, a relative started puberty at an early but normal age her parents got concerned so the doctor put her on hormones to stop it so she could grow some more. The hormones left her much shorter than she was suppose to be. Since she was short the doctor then started prescribing growth hormones. Pretty much someone jsut has to say I have an ailment and the doctor prescribe something. I started puberty at the same time my relative did and every doctor I went to in the US prescribed exercise. I turned out fine. I then found out from a friend there that it's common practice over there.
So which is more dangerous, denying a patient healthcare or overgiving healthcare?

sephoramoon - Canadian life expectancy is short because their health care system does not work. Even their government admits it is a failure.

America has a high life expectancy and there is no measurable correlation between life span and access to health care. The national institutes of health has explained it away claiming that healthy people in the US do not seek health care and therefor increase the statistics.

Whatever the reason, going to the doctor and spending time in the hospital and taking synthetic medications does reduce life span and health care is dangerous.

Funding Health Care would strengthen the Health provider industry and we would make a profit on it. Waging war has always helped the economy, we need to wage war for health. Taxes would go down because of the increased revenues from the medical industry.

Hospitals in the United States that are certified by Joint Commission (US governing agency for hospitals) HAVE to treat anyone who comes to their facilities, regardless of if they will be able to pay or not. Those hospitals also have to offer and apply a certain amount of charity care or they will loose their accrediation.
Physicians in private practice do no have to always offer charity, although some do. They can turn away people who will not pay for medical care, but then there are the Health Clinics.
I would say the US is providing an astronmical amount of free health care.

Well, when you have a severed jugular and are bleeding to death on the side of the road, tell me you think it is better to deny health care. Or say you have a heart attack at 50, no insurance, no bed. I have a question, why did you go to a doctor just because you were starting puberty? What for?

No health care can greatly shorten peoples life span. Anything taken to the extreme is bad. On the other side I see people becoming to dependent on the government. I think some independence form the government is important. The issue of health care in America ultimately boils down to is if we want higher taxes. The national debt is so astronomical that taxes would need to be increased in order to support the program.

overgiving is much dangerous than denying patient healthcare.

as the saying goes,

"too much is something bad"

and when you deny a patient healthcare, it doesnt mean that you can't self medicate or get a check up.

Both. There needs to be a balance, like in Canada.
