i suppose you're referring to a remote starter? if so a viper or directed electronics brand? look on the back of your remote... sometimes what happens is the remote starter must "relearn" the tach signal, which tells the remote start to stop cranking, if it doesn't get a proper signal then it shuts down, or maybe a relay problem.... if u do have a directed electronics alarm system, go to directed.com and pickup the installation manual and owners manual. in the install manual it provides a way to determine why the remote start failed to start, its called shut-down diagnostics. if u have no clue what i'm talking about take it to best buy or circuit. and they can diagnose and or reprogram...

so based on the additional info:
the car starts normally with a key correct?, and only when you try to remote start it, does it have the problem? the keyless entry and lights work properly?

if so the condition is not your starter and rather the relay pack and brain of the remote starter.
the advice above then is accurate, and here are a couple of other things to check
if u have a meter u can check the outputs of the relay pack of the remote start, to see whether it could be a relay problem, or maybe a fuse is blown too.

ultimatley you're gonna wanna get that install manual for the item, as this is a common problem encountered by an installer before the final installation....

did u check the brand and who installed it?
without any additional details that is the best diagnosis i can offer
good luck

If the starter doesn't run then you have a no crank, no start condition. If the starter did crank the engine, then you'd have a "crank but no start" symptom. I assume you have the first case and if your battery is over 5 years old, you need a new one no matter what. The battery terminals may not be making a good connection even though your lights come on, so loosen the cable clamps and rotate the clamps back and forth a few times on the battery posts before tightening the clamps. Then get a jump start as shown in the online video below and drive to the auto store to have the battery and charging system checked. They install a new battery for free. If you have the second "crank but no start" case, then you check for the presence of ignition spark using a spark tester and also for the presence of fuel using a shop fuel pressure tester.

Whether a diesel or gasoline powered ride it sounds like someone got the stereo wired into the ignition wiring and have created a ground through the new stereo.

Things don't always work the way you think they should when wiring a stereo and cutting into existing wires rather than wiring straight from the fuse box. There are always extra slots in the fuse box for adding accessories and radios.

It sounds like they may have tapped into a hot wire past the ignition switch that may or may not be able to support the stereo and igntion functions simultaneously. Maybe a double feed or it draws too much off the coil power.

Logical guess of course.

Good Luck!

If the vehicle won't "turn over" meaning the starter in simple terms clicks once you turn the biggest it must be the two the starter or a discharged battery. turn on your headlights and attempt to start the vehicle. If the headlights pass very dim then this is maximum probable a discharged battery. if so a standard bounce-initiate gets the vehicle working and you're becoming a controversy with the alternator or voltage regulator failing to cost the battery. you will comprehend if the subsequent time you attempt to start it the comparable element happens. If the headlights stay bright then you certainly've a bad starter. finally, if the vehicle has an computerized transmission it ought to be in PARK or impartial to start. there's a protection swap that retains the vehicle from commencing if the transmission is in kit. If it has a handbook transmission then it ought to have a grab protection swap that demands the grab pedal to be pressed in each and every of ways for the starter to work together. i've got considered some thing so basic as a floor mat sliding under the pedal keeping it from getting into each and every of ways and inflicting the protection swap to maintain the starter from enticing.

You have a bad ground I believe.

If I'm correct, your car will turn over, kick for couple seconds, than just cut out.

Clean all your ground connections and see what happens.

Q1. Do you have a security system on the vehicle?
