"Universe" is defined as all that exists. Trouble is, there are various degrees of existence. Does your imagination exist? Does the future exist?

I believe "our" universe consists of waves in the cosmic foam of a sub-universe, which is the ether of our universe; and our cosmic foam (revealed in 3D survey of galaxies) is the ether foam of a super-universe. We can never observe what is in the sub-universe or super-universe, but knowing our relation to them may help to advance our understanding of this universe.

The theory behind the Multiverse is that in order to match up the science of things very large and things that are very small ( Quantum/Particle Science ), the Multiverse must exist. For more information about the Multiverse, check out http://www.universeguide.com/Multiverse.php

I believe we're teetering on the brink of quantum physics discovering a lot of what metaphysical types have been laughed at for a couple of centuries for knowing. Mutiverse might be as good a discription of a piece of it as any other label.

Why do I believe it? There have been a lot of encouraging discoveries in quantum physics during the past 2-3 decades. One of the most profound I've come across you can read about on the link.

Universe is Understood by Cosmologist as being. a Unique Entity. Unique means one and only one , and nothing like it.

Now if there would have been more than one Universe we would have more than one class of Cosmologist. One would specialize in Universe number one(Uno). The other one would specialize in Unverse two(dos). The other one who specialize in Univese three(tres). The other one would specialize in Universe four(quatros) ,etc.....and so on.
There would be soooo.... many jobs for cosmologists.lol.
