Would she have been criticized for being "fat" if she were a man?
I'm not seeing a lot of sympathy for her, just delight in her downfall...where's all this sympathy in the media?
And yes, I do have sympathy for Jacko, I'm not entirely convinced he's guilty (but he IS crazy). He's never been convicted, so who am I to decide he did it?

I haven't noticed much sympathy for Britney Spears. While her performance was rightly criticized, some others have gone too far and focused too much on her appearance. Yes, she did wear an inappropriate outfit and it was obvious she has gained a considerable amount of weight recently. However, I don't think her appearance would have gotten near the same amount of scrutiny if she had been a man. Her now ex-husband tried his hand at rapping on a show fairly recently. The reviewers almost universally panned his performance but they said nothing about his appearance.

Now she might get some help. i think sorry for the persons round her for the previous couple of years that went out partying along with her and acted as though each little thing grew to become into large. i be attentive to we don't be attentive to all the story. yet looking on the movie the persons round her did not seem very worried. They have been all happy and smiling. with any luck the youngsters are youthful adequate that they wont remember all the undesirable circumstances. i'm hoping shes getting help. Shes too youthful to waste her existence.

No, most people think she's a dumb country bumpkin from the backwoods of Louisiana, y'all who has too much money and too little education. She also might be a little bit crazy, which is why people feel sorry for her. And if a man gave a sh!tty performance or dared to gain ten pounds after popping out two kids, there certainly wouldn't be a shitstorm like the one that's going on now.

Unlike Michael Jackson, britney brought this on herself. Michael didn't do anything to deserve the crap that he gets, and he would NEVER put on a bad preformance, but Britney on the other hand, she never had any talent, she never did put on good preformances, and she does stupid things all the time that there is no excuse for it. (there's no excuse for dropping your baby, Michael has excuses, she doesn't) so all in all, she would never get my sympathy. And I do think that Michael gets more sympathy than she does because people realize that he's just the victim.

What do you mean, feel sorry for her? They pity her. If it was Tenderflake, He-Who-Keeps-Changing-His-Name, or Jacko, they would laugh at them just as much. Celebrities of both sexes get less sympathy because the entertainment world is where they have cast their lot, and mockery is to be expected. And only die-hard fans would feel sorry for Michael Jackson. The rest of us still have night terrors because of him.
We feminists have a problem with the criticism of Britney's weight — not just because we think there wasn't much of a problem with it, but because it sends the wrong message to the young girls who are trying to be just like her.
In my opinion, Britney is messed up beyond all reason, K-Fed is as much of a deadbeat as she is, and their sons will need extensive therapy as soon as they learn to talk.

It's difficult to feel 'sympathy' for Britney Spears... even if she were a man :-p
I actually think K Fed was pathetic. But beyond that, it's all celebrity doodling and typical fall-from-grace (if ever she had some)

In fact, male celebrities do get slagged for gaining weight and turning into slobs... just not as often or as vehemently as happens for the women. And the reason, as I see it, is because they don't set themselves out there as talentless sex symbols in the same way BS has...
I believe that she is not a victim of any kind. She has no singing talent, and made her 'name' by the outfits and dance performances, all the while lip syncing to digitally enhanced tracks. So if she is now being slagged for having gained weight or gotten out of shape and should no longer be attempting to wear the clothing she chooses, she has no one to blame but herself. She set herself out there as a little sex kitten when she was a teenager....so why are we being villified for judging her abilities as one now?

her performance hasn't been the issue as much as her appearance.
that wouldn't be the case if it was a man.
so it doesn't compare.
but i don't really have any sympathy for her, just disgust with the media. so what's new?

People don't feel sorry for Michael Jackson because he is a child rapist.
I don't feel sorry for Britney. Well, I feel a little sorry for her because the media is way too interested in her personal life and broadcasts her issues that really ought to be private. But I don't feel bad for her because she had a bad performance. I was never a fan of her to begin with.
