3 common denominators of 1/3= 15,27, 45
3 common denominators of 1/2 =12, 24, 48

Common denominators are simply multiples of the bottom number of a fraction. So, if you have the fraction 9/27, for instance, 9 is a multiple of 3 also, and will divide equally for both numerator and denominator and come out as 1/3 (9 divided by 3 =1 and 27 divided by 9=3. The steps:
9/27=3/9
3/9 =1/3
