Keep the arc close to the surface and use a circular motion. Go downhill instead of uphill to reduce dripping. You will need to test before actually welding the project. Hope this is not going to have a lot of pressure on it. 2" thick is a lot for MIG. Run stringer beads starting at the center and moving outwards.

I genuraly wire pustion mey for this far as part posibly like 3" to 4" inches about far for by the drippieing for weave purpoises. Yeas, try put dril speied eslow much for niser finisch
