Definitely- i get crap for it (ESPECIALLY at school) all the time. I hate the "shift" button- my left pointer hits "caps lock" and my right pointer and right middle finger do all the typing. I can type 47 WPM with MY version of typing, and an embarrassing 10 WPM with all ten fingers. I know where all the letters are, it's just I've always typed this way and can't get off it. (Like how we refuse to change the keyboard configuration- it hasn't been changed since the invention of the typewriter... this is actually the slowest possible formation. Old typewriters couldn't keep up with faster typists, so they formatted it to be as slow and difficult as possible!)

I have only been using the key board for a short time, so I suppose I am in this category, the main reason that I started using Yahoo Answer`s was to make me use the key board more and therefore get a bit faster at it, I am still at the two finger stage but I know where the keys are now and I am getting a bit faster, I am better than hunt and peck, more like just peck.
Chris.

No, I'm a touch typist. I was required to take typing in high school long before PC's. All the typewriters in typing classes had blank keys so we wouldn't be tempted to look.

Nope. I've been a touch typist long enough that the words go from my brain to the screen (or the paper) and I don't have to think about what my fingers are doing.

No. I'm so old that I learnt touch typing in what is now called my 'gap year'. Hunt and peck refers to people who only use their forefingers and hover over the keyboard until they find the right letter.

No, I took typing in Jr. High and I need to type for various computer jobs. If you need to work with computers, I would suggest learning how to type without the "hunt & peck" method or suffer later.

Nope, and while that method would seem slower, some people can type really fast that way! I use all my fingers, and top out at a sad 35 words per minute. . :(

Wonder if I can get paid for this somehow...
